Can it be that keeping my hands busy distracts my idle mind?
Perhaps reading is just an excuse to fantasize.
Or maybe I'm just afraid of the situations I have no control over?

focus.
remember.
snap out.
listen.
pray.
move on.

Oh yeah.. Did I mention that I'm also serioooooooooooooously addicted to Pull & Bear with all my superficial, materialistic, frivolous heart? It's high time they intro-ed some frequent shopper benefits!

I heart CADC

I need to read the CADC blog every so often, it's like my slow release fentanyl patch. One single dose lasts 72hrs. Miss the dose and I'll be 'bringing on the pain".

I look forward to Sharon's posts. Her's tainted with emotion which reels me back to the times where I once was a part of the club. The bitchfests, budding vocals, wacky characters, Joey (!!) and all the people that made staying back after school really special.

If its her Hotel Califonia, then CADC has to be my amputated limb. Far away, but always a part of me.

Oh, how I heart those people.

By the way, I just need to brag. Stick Insect bought me the Heroes comic..!!

It's the coolest thing EVER.

For the record, my fave Hero is Peter Patrelli cause he can mimic other powers, though it would be interesting to have a villain that can absorb powers. It would be nice to see whether a Hero that can absorb or mimic powers would win.

Season 3 reveals a deeper understanding of the characters and the relationships between them. The good show their dark side, and likewise, the bad manifest some heart. Drama!! And more characters! More powers! More mind blowing graphics! I can't wait to finish the series!

Stick Insect, would you like to buy me the DVDs too?! Wahahaa...
Obsessive Compulsive Behavior

Ohh... How I do luuuuuuuuurve scrapbooking! *can you tell?!*

I'm mindlessly attracted to printed paper filled with delicious colours, accents, glitter (yay!), brads (woohoo!), lace, stickers, borders, chipboards, 3D prints etc! Be it made of plastic, metal, felt, paper, I Luuuuurve them ALL!

And when I start, I get possessed!

If I die, I'd want people to stick all these on my gravestone. Make it groovy!

After starting off with a single kit, my collection has mushroomed into a modest box of treasures (and a fridge door gallery..heehee). The scary thing is, I'm already allocating a fraction of my upcoming bonus to purchase more stuff.

As Homer Simpson would say... DOPE!

I think it's so great to personalize and add such pizzazz to pictures. And because the paper and add-ons don't fade, the memories will remain vibrant for a looong time. And these transformations aren't exclusive to pictures, you can alter boxes, keepsakes, music boxes, cards... well, the list is only limited by your imagination!

I'm hypothesizing Gollum's ring must have been embellished! No wonder he was obsessed with getting it back!

Just look at what my fave brand has to offer..

From the Sassafras Lass Collections! -loves-

I'm shivering with excitement. Stick Insect, can buy me these not?!!
And of course, there are many more stuff available for scrapbooking...

The card stock is by October Afternoon! Love the apple and the tree! And the felt lace has dragonflies and butterflies! Can you see?! Can you see (jumps with excitement)?! Can you..huh?! Can you?!! *ecstatic*

Aren't these enemal brads just soooo cute?! Chio ah! *salivates*

The kit that ignited the passionOBSESSION
*eyes aflame and rubs hands with glee*

You can easily kick start your addiction by simple kits. This range is by American Traditional and these mini kits are really wonderful as gifts or keepsakes.

The best part is that it's only $9.90 and fully loaded with most of the stuff you'd need. And the pages are thicker then normal 12x12 paper so it doesn't crinkle or tear easily. It comes in a variety of themes, ranging from recipes, birthdays, babies, travel and wedding.

You can check out Made With Love at Plaza Singapura, as it stocks a good range of products. But personally, I find the shop hard to navigate (aka sensory overload). But they're still THE place to go to learn and grab quirky scrapbook stuff.

You can also try a little store in International Plaza (level 2) called Cards and Scraps. Or maybe even an online store called www.scrapoholics.com.sg.

Just be sure to have a tight reign on your wallet. If you find yourself willing to sell off a kidney or playing with the idea of trading sexual services in return for scrapbook stuff, GET OUT IMMEDIATELY.

You have been warned!

I'm on night shift again. Just before the ward releases me for my long awaited annual leave. I'm so looking forward to going KL next week. I want to watch movies til my eyeballs pop out of their sockets, go Cosmo's and binge til I end up puking and dizzy with hyperglycemia! Woohoo!!

But before the fun starts, I'm scheduled to work with a colleague I'd rather not work with.

I'll just have to chew my lip and get through the 2 whole nights with her, and her annoying lame attempts to get my attention.

Damn, my lips are already blardy bleeding.

I just don't fucking like you. Geddit?!

Stay out of my face. Please.

Obama Drama

Congratulations to Mr Obama, the new President Elect of the United States of America. A historical moment that will surely go down in history as he becomes the 1st non-white, minority that has made it to the Presidency.

For now, the only color that matters to the Americans must be neither black nor white, but green.

The greenback.

How will you transform the political landscape Mr Obama?

Truthfully, Obama has a heap of shit to inherit from his predecessor. He has no time to celebrate as the past 8 yrs of flawed administration, having ravaged the American economy, finally bows out. And with the possibility of the recession toppling into a full blown depression, I am eager to see what the charismatic (albeit young) Obama can infuse into the political arena.

Trade. Relationships. Even greenhouse emissions.
The list unrolls...

The media plasters that exuberant faces of the people cheering for their new hero, even celebrities, chanting, “The change we need”.

In this time, perhaps he should modify this motto as per Ellen's advice.
"Can you spare some change?"

Do not be beguiled. Electing a man of color doesn’t spell the end of the deep rooted discrimination of castes and color. It is alive and well in the country (and in many other parts of the world). America has had her fair share of political drama. And as the threats of assignation loom over the horizon, Team Obama is doing all they can to avert such disaster. From speaking behind plexi-glass to armed guards, it is evident that security is of utmost importance.

Lincoln. King. Kennedy.

All murdered in the midst of battling for freedom.

I pray history does not repeat itself here.

With Obama’s uniquely international mix of bloodlines (But I’m not here to discuss his parentage or lull over how black he is), he has emerged as the new role model for the (subjective) attainable American dream. Where, anyone and everyone can achieve their dreams, even being President by hard work, determination and wee bit of luck.

Hopefully, being exposed to an array of cultures has cultivated some sensitivity towards the differences each possess, and in turn, help mould public opinion amongst his people.

Perhaps he can lead his people out from the shadows and kick start an ailing economy as new superpowers emerge against this tidal wave of history in the making.

Help save my savings Obama..!

I've been cooking! Haha.. call me iron chef! So here's some pics of the stuff I made.

Assorted vegetables with plenty of garlic!

Lotus root with carrots heaped onto rice and a dallop of XO sauce.
I have alternative tastebuds that just looove that spicy flavor!

Incidentally, I've also been out stuffing myself silly.

Just see what Stick Insect and I polish off in single sitting.
Seafood congee.
Black Pepper baked rice.
Oyster sauce veg.
Pan fried dumplings.

Washed down with a mug of milk tea.

And we even shared a chocolate truffle milkshake and Long John after that. Hahaha..! We're such pigs.

Long live Gelatisimo!!

Mmmmm...marvellous!

P-A-R-T-Y

The past few weeks have been infused with so much adventures, just look at how much has happened!

Firstly, the ward party. We had some last minute organizational hiccups and a major overhaul in management which saw me in the helm after Devi left for NYP. Thankfully, key areas had all been addressed and the rest kicked in like clockwork on the day of the party.

This party was not only our annual ward party, it was also a farewell for Lao Lao and all the staff who had left us to persue their advanced dips, it was also a suprise birthday party for little Snoopy whom finally is of legal age to watch R(21) movies! Hurray!

Decorations and home cooked food!

The presents and part of the food ensemble.

Hungry people!

And what would a party be without games?!

See how Ismail is trying to focus on Ah Koh?! Daring lah you!

And this was what he snapped. Pure Kodak moment.

The hair that possessed us all

Happiness. Just happiness.

EVO

I fell head over heels in love with Heroes the very first time I watched the trailer. This hypothesis of DNA mutation being able to produce superpowers appeals to the somewhat Frankenstein-ish undercurrents I so possess.

The theory that minds can be read, being able to bend the space-time continuum, and of course, the power of regeneration hiding within our very own genetic structure is the stuff my fantasies are made of.
We are more capable then we credit ourselves.

Evolution is defined as a process a product of development, as seen in our DNA structure; through mutation, natural selection or genetic drift. And it is a fact that DNA does evolve, which can result in a positive, negative or neutral (redundant) consequence.

Take for example the infamous and controversial CCR5-Delta 32.

It is said that during the age of the Bubonic plague (aka the Black Death) that swept into Europe in 1346-1350, wiping out one third of its population, something miraculous happened. Somehow, the DNA in that group of people suddenly had a Eureka moment and modified itself to fend of further attacks of the plague.

The action of CCR5-Delta 32 is wonderfully simple. This genetic mutation renders the receptors on the cell wall to not allow the virus an entry. Without entry, the virus is unable to replicate and thus the cell remains intact.

We now believe that if you inherit CCR5-Delta 32 from both parents, you will be likely to be immune to some form of diseases (eg AIDS, smallpox). However, this mutation is mainly found within the European community and not the Asian or African populations where the explosion of AIDS is rampant.

On a general note, people can adapt to altitudes. Even children of migrants look different from their native lands. Or that people can still function normally with half a brain chopped off. Our body learns because it knows it has to.

Why this happens, nobody knows.

But I do believe humans have the power to adapt. And that God provides even in the bleakest of situations.
