Superwoman

I had a super bad round of night shift last week. Nevermind the 20 patient load, I still had to serve the night medication and complete the changes for the new admissions, give a shit load of IVs, massive CB load of blood glucose monitoring (with their damned sliding scales!), the MF truckload of morning bloods; I still had to contend with a PMS +++ bitch from another department and a nagging mosh pit of relatives.

I understand their anxiety over the DIL status of their loved one. But updates given one too many times can be quite hard to stomach when I’m nose deep in shit.

I have other patients you know.

My last night saw me packing in 5 admissions. That’s my new record! Thankfully, 3 out of the 5 were relatively straight forward, the 4th came with some nonsense from the patient and her overly anxious boyfriend, while the 5th was DDIL. And CB A&E didn’t even have the cheek to inform us about the status!

Niiiice.

KNNBCCB..! Yes. Straight to YOUR mother.

I sincerely hope people from other departments can switch around often so we can all understand how it is to be at the receiving end of all the bullshit.

I’m hanging on by skin of my teeth.
