KL 2008 ...!!

We took the coach from Grassland Express which cost $225/pax for a 3D2N stay in KL at Berjaya Times Square. On the way, we were greeted by scenes dotting the long ride to KL.

The coach was relatively clean but of course, no bus ride would be complete without their share of over zealous ah peks on their way to Genting. Headache!

Drooled on most of the way there until we finally saw KL! If I didn't know better, I would swear I was born on a moving vehicle because I find it so easy to sleep on one! Unlike an aircraft, where vibrations are minimal and its so cramped.

Stick Insect choose our hotel, since she had a positive experience from her previous stay. Our suite was quite spacious; with a walk-in shower, tub, seperate toilet, pantry, living room and bedroom.

No doubt the bulk of the costs went to paying for the room, but it was really clean and pleasant; a far cry from the horrors you hear so often about roach infested rooms in KL.

our suite was on the 40th floor!

Our room had a great view of the historical Pudu jail and some other landmarks. Showcased here are both the day and night views.

On the 1st night, we went to 1Utama Shopping centre via their public transport. Unlike our local trains, their light rail systems are more complex. Managed by 5 different companies, their interchanges stated on paper looks deceptively easier to negotiate.

Truth no.1 - You have to buy seperate tickets for different lines

Truth no.2- Interchanges require at least a 5-10min walk

Truth no.3-Like SG, NOBODY gives up their seats for anyone

And to top it all off, we got cheated by an idiotic, lame-excuse-for-a-man, fat shit faced cabbie. Do note, even though cabs may run on meters, but it is your luck to get an honest cabbie with an untempered meter or just a no-good roundabout slime bucket.

1Utama is a massive shopping complex with all the trappings of the modern world; ie boutiques, foodcourts & restaurants and cinemas. Malaysia also boasts their own local brands such as Padini Authentics, which have nice looking clothes, but they don't come cheap.

Even our beloved P&B was steeper despite the conversion rate. Initially, I'd hope to get some scrapbook stuff there, but the range in SG is so much wider and yes, prices are comparable so I saw no logic lugging it all the way back.

Movies are cheap though. With tickets at RM9, we caught Madagascar there.

Our fave in 1Utama had to be the choco waffles! Freshly made in front of our dilated pupils and topped with ice cream, fudge and nuts..!! ooOOOooOOOoo..

On our 2nd day, we conquered Cosmo's World at Berjaya Times Square. I liked the roller coaster the best. It's a tame ride in comparison to others I've tried, but the G-forces at the loop was exciting.. Stick Insect preferred to keep her feet planted on firm ground and clucked away as I queued for my turn.

I notice people like to talk lots during their rides. Praying, having full blown conversations which goodness-knows-who etc. I just squeal and scream. My brain does not work with that much adrenalin pumped through.

Our fave stop in Times Square has to be Baskin Robbin's!! I had to have my daily dose of choco with peanut butter chunks. Drools.....

B&J, eat your heart out

We also caught HSM3 and turned Stick Insect into an instant fan. She wanted to get the DVDs but the search turned futile. Which must have been a good sign since I'm sure she'll memorize EVERY song and dance routine in the confines of her 4 walls. Wahahahaa..

I bought 'A thousand Splendid Suns' from Borders. After making use of their promo, it only cost me SGD13. A pretty good deal!

And like all ang moh pai places in Asia, all their staff speak with an amazingly thick American accent. So twilight zone...

Then at night, we scooted off to the infamous Jln Alor for dinner. Pity the rain drenched the crowd along the open street. Though we managed to get tips of a resonably priced stall from the friendly mobile copyright violator.

Without a doubt, I could not deny myself a healthy dose of tau sah piah! Bring it ON!!!!

Our 3rd day was a tribute to all the lazy bones in our body, where we hurried down for our free breakfast and slid back into bed on a full stomach to sleep the morning away, only moving after checking out from the hotel.

We bought some stuff from a shop named Etude House, a Korean brand much like Skin Food. Their packaging was really girly and cute. Cheap too..! Stick Insect bought their peach scented blusher which looked really nice.

But yes, I resisted the temptation of spending money by unleashing the cheapskate in me and brainwashing myself that I would have become mopeng by its use.

Found these pics of Etude House online

Then we had lunch in Johnny's Restaurant (serving Thai food) over on the 3rd floor. The service was terrific! And the food was good too..

Afterwhich, we just shopped leisurely around the mall and took comfort from the downpour at a nearby Starbucks til it was time to catch the bus back to SG.

Goodbye KL!
