The recent health scandal involving China’s dairy industry and their melamine-tainted products has dragged China’s reputation through the gutter. What used to be a cheap alternative for mass production has been unmasked to be a greedy and unscrupulous nation.

These selfish bastards added melamine, which is rich in nitrogen to produce false highs in protein levels.

Ingenious you say? I beg to differ.

Melamine is described as being harmful if swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through the skin. So why the hell is it being added to food?! In low doses, melamine is non toxic. However, when mixed with cyanuric acid, it forms an insoluble substance and has the tendency to develop into kidney stones, which may be fatal. Chronic toxicity can also result in kidney or bladder stones, reproductive damage and possibly bladder cancer and renal failure.

I dread to imagine the extent of damage this drama will have to account for in the later years.

Can we blame their government for this downfall?

Hell yeah.

Simply because there were insufficient measures implemented to safeguard the interest of the public. Or is there something more sinister like political corruption in the backdrop? Time and time again, China has let greed got the better of them.

Of course, the companies involved also have to shoulder their responsibility in this whole fiasco. Every day products like milk, chocolates, cookies, ice cream; the things so readily available and widely consumed have all been singled out to contain toxic amounts of melamine.

Even fucking infant formula and baby cereal.

If the effects of melamine are so horrific in adults, imagine the magnitude this has on the infant, who is consuming absolutely nothing except for the tainted products.

In 2007, pet food was reported to have been tainted by melamine too. In a separate incident in 2004, malnutrition robbed the lives of 13 infants whose parents bought milk fraudulently diluted by the manufacturers. There are also reports of other chemicals being added to food and drinks (eg. Hydrogen peroxide) just to boost the profit margin.

Those bastards.

Their greed has directly resulted in the deaths of four young children and the injury of 54,000, with that number predicted to increase.

This just has to end.

So until they take responsibilities for their actions and clean up their rotten act, I’m banning all Made-In-China products to come through my door.
